Kennedy Center Votes for Controversial Name Change to Trump-Kennedy Performing Arts Center, According to Administration Announcement.

The board of trustees of the iconic performing arts venue has approved a measure to adopt a new name the Trump-Kennedy Center, as confirmed by the White House.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced via a post that the board's vote was unified, attributing it to "the unbelievable work President Trump has done over the last year in rescuing the building."
"This is destined to be a truly great team long into the future! The building will no doubt achieve new levels of prestige and accomplishment," Leavitt continued.
The planned renaming is expected to be extremely contentious, notably in Washington, D.C., where the center has served as an beloved institution since its completion and original naming for President John F. Kennedy.
Recent History of the Venue
Not long after taking office, President Donald Trump dismissed all the center's incumbent trustees and installed supporters in their positions. The freshly appointed board then voted to appoint Trump as chairman.
The president later secured approximately $257 million in appropriated money to finance extensive repairs and other financial needs at the national venue.
Inception
The idea for a national performing arts center originated in the 1950s. Following the murder of President John F. Kennedy, the 35th president, in 1963, the planned venue was dedicated to his memory.
